PsychoacousticParametersMeasurer
Legacy project. Not maintained. Its last commit was in June 2021, more than three years ago. Kept here for reference. Its code may follow an older edition and may not run with current software.
Python scripts, commented in Spanish, that translate psychoacoustic parameters described in Zwicker and Fastl's book: Zwicker loudness (stationary and time-varying, from third-octave levels), sharpness, roughness, fluctuation strength and psychoacoustic annoyance.

What it implements
| Metric | Edition | Functions | Validation (as stated) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zwicker loudness | ISO 532-1:2017 stationary and time-varying, from third-octave levels | loudness_ISO532, loudness_ISO532_time | not stated | legacy The file header says "Loudness ISO 532-1:2014" and the filter coefficients are labelled "ISO 532-1:2014"; the published edition is ISO 532-1:2017. |
| Sharpness | DIN 45692:2009 | calc_sharpness | not stated | legacy The file header says "Sharpness DIN 45692"; the function also returns the von Bismarck and Aures variants. |
| Fluctuation strength (Osses et al.) | Fastl & Zwicker (2007) Zwicker & Fastl formula | acousticFluctuation, fmoddetection | not stated | legacy The header cites Zwicker & Fastl, "Psychoacoustics: Facts and Models", without naming an edition. |
| Psychoacoustic annoyance | Zwicker & Fastl (1999) | psychoacousticAnnoyance | not stated | legacy The header cites Zwicker & Fastl, "Psychoacoustics: Facts and Models", without naming an edition. |
How it was validated
As reported by the project; LISQM has not run the code. Two implementations that agree can still share the same error. Kinds of evidence.
The project does not say how any of these were validated.
Notes
- There is no README. The GitHub description calls the project "the translation to python of the most important parameters in the field of Psychoacoustics based on the book of Zwicker and Fastl".
- Roughness (
acousticRoughness) follows the formula in Zwicker & Fastl's book, which is not one of the roughness metrics in this list. - Also contains A-weighting, voice-activity detection and the scripts Main.py and Main_WAV.py for microphone or WAV input.
Before you rely on it
- No licence file, so reuse is not permitted by default.
- No documentation and no stated validation.
