Kirin Hypha
Newly released project. First public commit in April 2026; v1.0.0 was released in May 2026. Not yet seen to be widely used in the community. Check its validation before relying on it.
Free PRE/POST measurement plug-in for mixing and mastering. Besides programme loudness (LUFS, ITU-R BS.1770), true peak and spectrum, it computes ISO 532-1 time-varying Zwicker loudness and DIN 45692 sharpness, ported from MoSQITo to Rust.

What it implements
| Metric | Edition | Functions | Validation (as stated) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zwicker loudness | ISO 532-1:2017 time-varying, per channel at 48 kHz; stored in the recorded data; since 1.0.0 | kirin_measure::phase_d | compared with MoSQITo (its source) | new Ported from MoSQITo v1.2.1. |
| Sharpness | DIN 45692:2009 from the time-varying specific loudness; shown in the plug-in; since 1.0.0 | kirin_measure::phase_d::sharpness | compared with MoSQITo (its source) | new |
How it was validated
As reported by the project; LISQM has not run the code. Two implementations that agree can still share the same error. Kinds of evidence.
- Zwicker loudness · ISO 532-1:2017
compared with MoSQITo (its source)
Ported or adapted from MoSQITo. It was compared with the code it was ported from, which checks the port only.
- Tests assert specific loudness within a relative 1e-3 of MoSQITo.
- Sharpness · DIN 45692:2009
compared with MoSQITo (its source)
Ported or adapted from MoSQITo. It was compared with the code it was ported from, which checks the port only.
- Tests assert agreement with MoSQITo within 0.05 acum.
Notes
- The loudness and sharpness code is a port of MoSQITo v1.2.1 (
loudness_zwtvand its stages); the sources and changes are listed inTHIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md. - Zwicker loudness N is computed and stored in the recorded data but is not one of the plug-in's display cells; sharpness is shown. For several channels, both are computed per channel and averaged.
- Programme loudness (LUFS) and true peak follow ITU-R BS.1770, which is outside the scope of this list.
Before you rely on it
- The loudness engine works on mono audio at 48 kHz; the plug-in measures each input channel separately.
